DELTA
The primary goal of the DELTA project is to foster a culture of knowledge exchange and foster innovation in multidisciplinary teaching and learning across the Western Balkans. The initiative is dedicated to equipping individuals with comprehensive knowledge and skills in data literacy, crucial for seamless integration into the EU’s economy and labor market. Fourth industrial revolution combined with digital transformation, has created fundamental changes and challenges for Western Balkan Countries (WBC) making it even more difficult for them to be internationally competitive. WBC are being challenged by the need for a better-qualified workforce, able to question machines and use data to build knowledge, make decisions and communicate its meaning with others. Data literacy, a critical skill to have in the 21st century, should be taught as early as possible, and awareness of their importance must be conveyed to students and organizations.
Objectives of the project
Provide students from various faculties at Western Balkan universities with the opportunity to attain a proficient level of data literacy. This initiative ensures that students are well-prepared to apply these critical skills across a broad spectrum of scenarios in both their personal and professional lives, thereby enhancing their adaptability and competitiveness; 2. Bridge the existing disparity in data literacy between the Western Balkans and the European Union. By elevating the standard of data literacy education in the region, the project aims to align the Western Balkans more closely with EU benchmarks, facilitating a smoother transition for its workforce into the EU labor market and economy.
- To discover and analyse through an in-depth desk research the most innovative and effective solutions and practices applied in this field throughout European higher education institutions;
- To design an innovative Learning ecosystem in data literacy, by developing 3 courses in Data Literacy or related to it, through the definition of standardized learning outcomes and utilizing the latest instructional design techniques and MOOCs, this ecosystem will offer accessible learning opportunities, ensuring modularity, customizability, and user-friendliness;
- To equip educators with the latest resources and knowledge to integrate data literacy skills with into their curricula. This will ensure that educators can provide advanced education to prepare learners for data literacy challenges.
Expected Results and Outcomes
- Research report the most innovative and effective solutions and practices applied in this field throughout European higher education institutions;
- Update of 3 courses in Data Literacy;
- Equipmint of educators with the latest resources and knowledge to integrate data literacy skills into their curricula,
- Piloting competence-oriented learning ecosystem across innovative teaching and learning data literacy.
