WARP
The Waste and Recycling Practices for Dual Transition in Vocational Education (WARP) project is a comprehensive initiative aimed at transforming vocational education and training (VET) within the Western Balkans, specifically in Albania and Kosovo. The project responds to the pressing environmental challenges faced by these regions, particularly in the management of plastic waste, by equipping VET trainers with essential competencies in both digital and green technologies. The project’s core focus is on dual transition, which refers to the simultaneous advancement of digital and sustainable practices within the waste management sector. WARP seeks to develop a self-sustainable methodology that can be integrated into VET systems, ensuring that trainers are not only aware of but also proficient in the latest practices in waste management, recycling, and sustainability.
Objectives of the project
- Design Multi-faceted Capacity Building Interventions: To systematically gather and analyze existing policies, practices, and initiatives related to sustainable waste management and recycling in Albania and Kosovo.
- Develop and Enhance VET Institutions’ Capacity: To improve existing programs at participating VET institutions and equip trainers with the necessary skills and knowledge for waste management and recycling.
- Strengthen Relationship Between VET Sector and Labour Market: To create partnerships between VET institutions and industry, aligning educational offerings with market needs.
- Promote Dissemination and Sustainability: To design and implement a Transferability Strategy that engages civil society, ensuring the long-term sustainability of successful waste management practices.
Expected Results and Outcomes
- Strengthened Waste and Recycling Management Training.
- Increased employment opportunities, particularly for youth and women, by creating innovative pathways for recycling plastic waste.
- Improved skills and knowledge in sustainable waste management, contributing to sustainable economic growth
Project Activities
- Development of vocational courses, continuing education, and online professional programs focusing on sustainable waste management.
- Establishment of Innovative Clusters in vocational institutions within Albania and Kosovo.
- Implementation of a comprehensive strategy for capacity building and technology transfer in waste management.
