Prof. Dr. Tonin Gjuraj

Ph.D. in Sociology, University of Tirana, Albania; postdoctoral studies and research at St’ Anthony’s College of the University of Oxford in the UK; MA in Society and Politics, Central European University, Prague, the Czech Republic; BA in English Philology, University of Tirana, Albania; various courses of specialization in democratic citizenship education at the University of Washington, Seattle, USA, and in many other universities abroad, such as: Norway, Poland, Italy, Hungary, The Netherlands, Germany, Israel, etc.. He has several years of experience in teaching at the university level, much experience working for national and international agencies in religious issues and democracy, civil society and blood-feuds studies, and field research. He has published many scientific articles in the well-known scientific reviews, in and outside his country. He served as the ambassador of the Republic of Albania to the State of Israel (2007 – 2009) and is now member of the Albanian Council of Ambassadors. He is currently the deputy chairman of the Rectors’ Conference of Albania. Since 2011, he is serving as the rector of the European University of Tirana, Albania.
