E- Viva aims at the creation of a blended learning approach to facilitate and validate competence developments related to service orientation in rather informal learning contexts in higher education institutes and workplace learning contexts. It will contribute to evidencing those competences that are of fundamental importance in the service economy and that are acquired to a large extent in non-formalized learning contexts. With its approach to combine Higher education and professional practice, e-VIVA will contribute to an improved transparency of the acquired competences in a transnational comparative approach. Nevertheless, it will provide learning and validation opportunities in highly contextualized and individualized learning settings. With this it will also open new learning pathways and eventually also lead to a better matching of learning contents and individual learning styles (preferences).
This project is led by European University of Tirana and it has a budget of approximately 1 million euros.

‘Internationalization at Home: Embedding Approaches and Structures to Foster Internationalization at Western Balkans – INTERBA , 2019-2022.
Internationalization of HEIs in the Balkan region so far has given a significant effect in modernizing the curriculum and exposure to different teaching and learning methodologies providing a better understanding on the role of education in XXI century. However, because the number of students and staff involved in these projects was limited, the impact has been asymmetric where some departments have reaped the benefits of these projects more than others. Thus, approaching internationalization on a more holistic way, by embedding and strengthening “internationalization at home”, is vital. The aim of the project is to strengthen international, intercultural and global dimension via Internalization at Home (IaH) implementation at partner HEIs in order to enhance the quality of education and to make a meaningful contribution to the society
The objectives of the project include:
- to formulate a coherent and detailed IaH concept that could be mainstreamed into the partner HEIs Roadmaps following on from their specific exigencies.
- to level up the scope and viability of IaH activities implemented in partner HEIs.
- to train expert pool capable of developing and integrating IaH into HEI environment.
- to launch an online platform as a tool for IaH implementation.
- to establish/modernize the existing structure/entities responsible for IaH at HEIs.
The project does not start from the scratch, but it tries to build upon the existing initiatives. During the first year the project tries to conduct an analysis of all previous international projects implemented in each country within the field of internationalization. This will not only produce an overview of mechanisms used to boost internationalization but will also provide a gap analysis which opens the gate to further and systematic improvement. This will allow to formulate a coherent and unified concept of IaH in all countries which will facilitate the understanding and application of the concept in practical terms. An online platform will be launched for all partners to support the e-learning process, to monitor the training and translation of documents.

Developing Research and Innovation Capacities in Albania and Kosovo – DRIVE
The general objective of this project is to contribute in the development of the research and innovation capacities of HEIs in Albania and Kosovo by enhancing their institutional capabilities, staff skills and networking.
Specifically, the project intends to:
- Enhance the teachers’ capacities and their methodologies so that they effectively equip the students (graduate level and beyond) with the skills to conduct independent research.
- Enhance the mentors’ capacities to effectively guide the students in their research activity.
- Enhance the research capacities of the academic and managerial staff through study visits and tailored trainings.
- Strengthen the managerial capacities for research activities and innovation in institutional level by setting or strengthening dedicated research and innovation support structures (RISS).
- Promote research excellence and innovation by developing a network that eases the interdisciplinarity and cooperation among local and international actors.
These objectives have been designed to directly address the needs identified in the proposal, namely:
- The need to improve the HEIs capacities for research and innovation.
- The need to foster the links and cooperation among the actors in the innovation ecosystem.
Respectively the first need corresponds to the specific objectives 1-4 which consist in developing the capacities for research of the target groups within the higher education institutions, whereas the specific objective 5 corresponds to the identified need to strengthen the cooperation among the higher education institutions as such with other entities such as businesses and local and international partners.
The objectives also serve as a basis to identify the target groups that require capacity building actions. Therefore, the set of activities that contribute to capacity development such as trainings, study visits, new structures, development of guidelines, etc. are grouped into work-packages that focus respectively on the identified target groups within the institution. While in response to the second need, a network among researchers, institutions and other actors will be established at country and regional level.
Not only the careful alignment among the project objectives, target groups and project activities, but also the direct access the implementing HEIs have on their staff and the dedicated time and resources they are allocating to the project, make for a high feasibility of the project objectives.

‘Data Literacy at the interface of higher education and business – DATALIT’
co-funded by Erasmus + Knowledge of Alliances
Nowadays data literacy is widely considered a critical skill to have in the 21st century. It can be defined as the ability to read, work with, analyze, and argue with data, in order to derive meaningful information and knowledge. Employees with data literacy skills have become highly valuable in today’s economy and labor market: more than ever before, employers demand some degree of data literacy from all employees, regardless of the professional role. Since data are used in a multitude of domains, data literacy is today an essential skill also for professionals like journalists, policy makers, etc. It is also a powerful enabler of civic engagement, as it empowers individuals and communities to keep governments transparent and accountable, tackle local issues, and navigate their own data ecosystems.
The project DATALIT aims at:
- offering to university students across different Faculties, the opportunity to reach a suitable level of data knowledge that they can use and apply appropriately and diversely throughout their personal and professional lives,
- Narrowing the gap between business and academia and putting EU enterprises in direct contact with potential future employees or business partners properly trained to exploit data effectively
To meet this challenge, DATALIT will develop and pilot an approach based on a long- term partnership of academia, business and educational partners. After an in-depth research phase, aimed at identifying best practices and experiences of data literacy inclusion in EU higher education and to better understand the needs and expectations of the target groups (students, HE professionals, employers), the partners will define a common understanding of data literacy as competence and design a syllabus to orient the creation of data courses. In parallel, the partners will develop a digital learning environment to integrate the class- based courses and a sound validation and certification system connected to the EQF, ECTS and EUROPASS systems. The outputs developed will be piloted by the Universities involved and by students that will have the opportunity to apply their data skills through internship experiences in EU enterprises.

Threads crossing the warp – CROSSWARP
The main objective of the project is a process of apprenticeship and collaboration on the traditional art of weaving. The project develops itself in depth (education, inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities, production) and in breadth (dissemination, creation of educational and productive points in five European countries and an open to everyone, digital platform with educational material). It connects the past with the future by attempting to revive a traditional art in the modern world and to design social cooperative enterprises that will create jobs for people with intellectual disabilities and other vulnerable groups of people from the typical population. A second aim is to provide the material and the expertise to people who wish to lead training weaving workshops.
More specifically the project aims to:
- To ensure the maintenance of weaving workshops in vocational training centers and set up new ones.
- The development of manuals for (a) the trainers and (b) the trainees with intellectual disabilities.
- Improve the inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities by giving the chance to local communities to attend in inclusive weaving seminars.
- Create job positions related to the field of weaving.
The project aims to contribute to the revival of traditional Weaving Art, an art that is in danger of being forgotten, as the weaving process has been mechanized, the hand loom has been replaced by the weaving machine. The revival of the hand-held loom thus, has a wider reference to intangible cultural heritage. At the same time, it has a great educational value due to its potential for the development of fine and thin motor skills, attention, concentration and psychosocial development, especially for people with mental disabilities.
The methodology of the project is based on the balance between the theoretical and the practical training as well as the management of traditional techniques in modern times. Since weaving by its nature requires synergies of different specialties (qualities), which complement each other, the project will attempt to be developed through the principles of collaboration through craft. Finally, it will be governed by the principles of inclusion, giving space to the coexistence of different groups of the population (general population, disabled people, elderly people, immigrants from countries with tradition in the subject, etc.).
In terms of impact, the CROSSWARP project aims to strengthen the creation of loom workshops in the Vocational Training Centers in the participating countries at first (across Europe thereafter) by offering integrated training tools. As far as longer-term benefits are concerned, the project will highlight training in weaving as a field for the development of social cooperative enterprises in the context of the promotion of KALO, which can ensure employment for people from vulnerable social groups.

Bottom-up Sport Partnership (BSPORT+)
B-SPORT+ is a blueprint to engage and activate persons with disabilities (PwD) and to assist them adopting healthy habits through a Lifelong Sporting System starting at early age and continuing in their active life (workplace, professional activity, etc.). Accordingly, B-SPORTS+ project focuses on developing actionable and deployable mechanisms, for improving the engagement and activation of PwD in healthier lifestyles, and on creating new cooperation settings and synergies and supporting existing ones, across key organisations and existing networks.
B-SPORTS+ brings together leading bodies from an enlarged sphere of audiences and groups, including sport, physical activity, science and research, businesses, the civil society, education and training, government bodies, in a remarkable partnership of expertise to implement the project, which incorporates the following focus points:
- activating actors in new roles promoting cross-sectoral cooperation, for instance with the schooling sphere, and giving impetus to EU initiatives such as the Teachers’ Resource Pack, and with businesses (workplace settings, health clubs partnerships);
- building cross-sectoral and sectoral capacity to equip resident facilitators, the “Healthy Lifestyle Facilitator” (HL-Coach), and deployable “Healthy Lifestyle Multipliers” (HL-Multi) with a PwD-oriented Capacity Building Programme “POWER SPORT+” which generates both HEPA activation/engagement, and individual empowerment;
- creating the user-driven digital social and Open Educational Resources (OER) platform “SPORT+LIFE” to support the individuals and organisations engaged in B-SPORT+ collaborative developments;
- liaising with science and technology, linking with Knowledge and Innovation Communities to generate innovative strategies to raise awareness on the benefit of healthy lifestyles;
- examining PwD specific needs related to assistive technologies to tackle obstacles in accessing HEPA;
- addressing the policy life cycle within a HEPA Policy Lab to assess impact in real environments;
- realizing local events during the European Week of Sport and other similar events several times a year;
- generating an actionable and deployable knowledge basis enhancing the dialogue across health and sport network through research and comparative studies, benchmarking good practices and gathering data on people’s attitudes and habits;
- contributing to data mining on healthy lifestyle indicators (interventions and actions, innovation) and to up-to-date country factsheets on health-enhancing physical activity (heap), and creating basis for a “HEPA Monitor”;
- contributing to the digital transformation of the sport and health sector with a specific focus on blockchain digital records and monetization towards funding innovation and B-SPORT+LIFE ecosystem;
B-SPORT+ generates simple and practical mechanisms with a systemic approach supported by recognized organisations, taking actions considering local contexts, creating environments and an on-site and online ecosystem (SPORT+LIFE) with the inclusive participation of PwD, to provide a large series of minor changes across key actors engaged with PwD.
