Prof. Asoc. Dr. Elona Shehu

Prof. Asoc. Dr. Elona Shehu is an accomplished academic leader and researcher specializing in finance. She serves as the Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Business, and Development at the European University of Tirana (UET), where she delivers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Investments, Financial Management, and Corporate Finance.

Dr. Shehu holds a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) specializing in Financial Management from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and earned her PhD in Corporate Governance and Banking from UET. Reflecting her strong international background, her doctoral research was conducted under a joint research framework (double supervision / research fellowship) with Óbuda University (Keleti Faculty of Business and Management) in Budapest, Hungary.

Throughout her career, she has accumulated extensive executive experience, having served as the Head of the Economics and Finance Department, Head of the Rector's Cabinet at UET, and Administrator within regional educational institutions. Furthermore, she directs strategic research and policy advocacy as the Executive Director of the Foundation for Economic Freedom. Her academic profile is strongly complemented by her extensive involvement in research, development, and policy projects. She has successfully managed project finances for R&D initiatives, coordinated national platforms aimed at increasing institutional and financial transparency, and co-authored prominent socio-economic value chain assessments from a gender perspective. Dr. Shehu has an elite publication record in leading international peer-reviewed journals, including publications indexed in SCOPUS/Elsevier and regularly presents her empirical findings at scientific symposia across Europe, including Denmark, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Albania etc.
