The overall aim of the Chair is to develop academic curricula, research, and professional expertise and knowledge on EU Integration and financial issues with an emphasis on the monetary policy, markets, and banking system amongst students of European Union studies and beyond, academics, professionals in the finance and banking sector, enterprises, and government institutions. The project also targets the EU diplomats that reside in Albania (European Delegation in Albania) as a bridge between the country and EU institutions.
Objectives of the project
- To align and significantly improve the quality existing curriculum in EU integration, monetary policy, and international finance for MA and PhD programs at the European University of Tirana, as a model to be followed by other HEIs in Albania and beyond; The project will contribute to enhancing knowledge of students in the working of monetary policy in the EU area and implications for the countries in the association process, such as Albania.
- To foster research and critical analysis in the field of EU and monetary policy among students, young and senior scholars to prepare academic studies that have the potential to inform policy-making in Albania instead of the EU accession Research will motivate academics and PhD students to deepen their knowledge on the pros and cons of EU enlargement when it comes to financial markets, banks, money and the savings of a country.
- To enhance knowledge, reflection, and professional capacities among Albanian stakeholders (central/local government, financial and bank system, NGO).
Expected Results and Outcomes
- The Chair will deliver a total of 340 hours of teaching throughout the project’s lifespan.
- Teaching will cover various disciplines and be tailored to three different levels of studies, integrating compulsory and optional modules.
- The interdisciplinary nature of the teaching approach will foster robust discussions and analysis within the course.
- Project implementation will commence with the development of course curricula and syllabi, specifying lecture content.
- This initial phase is projected to last one month from the project’s approval date.
Project Activities
- To conduct high quality teaching activities for UET MA/PhD students in order to develop their analytical and critical skills and to increase their professional expertise in the field of EU economy policy in the Albanian context and with a projection of EU integration;
- It will support and mentor the young generation of researchers in UET and higher education in Albania on the topics of EU, monetary policy, financial markets and banking system. This is highly relevant in order to prepare qualified researchers that will critically examine the impacts of accession and integration on the Albanian financial and banking system.
- Outreach activities in the wider public through organizing conferences, seminars/webinars, workshops for stakeholders such as: academics, students and researchers outside out; reaching universities in the regions of albania which re usually overlooked; reaching the governa,metal institutions, central banks
