By embracing digital technologies, Albania can diversify its economy, enhance access to EU and global markets, and stimulate entrepreneurship. However, the country faces significant challenges in AI adoption and the development of local expertise. These challenges include a shortage of skilled AI professionals, ongoing emigration, rising unemployment, and an education system that has yet to fully adapt to the demands of the digital era. To address these challenges, the project proposes the creation of the Albanian European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIH), specifically through the establishment of the Digital Innovation Unit (DIU). The DIU will serve as a one-stop shop for companies, helping them navigate digital challenges and enhance their competitiveness. By leveraging digital technologies, the DIU will support companies in improving their business processes, products, and services. Additionally, it will offer a range of innovation services, including financial advisory, training, and skills development, all crucial for a successful digital transformation.
