The innovative COORP platform was introduced at the Canadian Institute of Technology on June 8th. The Canadian Institute of Technology and the European University of Tirana have initiated the establishment of COORP – a platflorm online and offline for research. This initiative was supported by PERFORM, a project funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation. The meeting was chaired by Blerjana Bino, UET and Fabjan Lashi, CIT who discussed with the participants on the development of this platform.

The overall objective of the project is to assist in the networking and integration of the Albanian academic community with the international community of scientific researchers and to efficiently respond to calls for research grants. COORP has two dimensions, offline for capacity development and the online dimension.

The initiative comes in light of the new reform in the field of higher education in Albania. Many academics welcomed this innovative platform, as we are a step towards the dampening of the classical division between public and private universities in Albania. Partners from public universities are: Faculty of Economics-University of Tirana, Aleksander Moisiu University – Durrës, Aleksander Xhuvani University – Elbasan; Fan S. Noli University – Korça; Luigj Gurakuqi University – Shkodra. Partners from private universities are: CIT, UET, EPOKA, Polis University, SHLUJ Marin Barleti, Luarasi University, New York University of Tirana. In addition, participants were also representatives from think tanks and research centers in Albania.
