COST - European Cooperation in Science and Technology
COST is the longest-running European structure supporting cross-national collaboration between researchers, engineers and researchers across Europe. It is a unique tool for them to jointly develop their ideas and new initiatives in all fields of science and technology, including social sciences and humanities, through the pan-European networking of nationally funded research activities. COST aims to enable rapid scientific developments leading to new concepts and products. In this way it contributes to strengthening Europe 's research and innovation capacity.
The governing body of COST, the Committee of Senior Officials (CSOs), has unanimously accepted Albania's application for full membership in COST. Our country is now the 37th member of COST.
The CSO made the decision at its 203rd meeting in Reykjavik, Iceland, on April 25-26, 2018. Albania meets all the requirements to become a full member of COST. Albanian institutions have participated in at least two consecutive EU programs and in at least 5% of COST operations.
The Albanian research community is currently participating in about 10% of COST-led operations. UET researchers have always been an active part of the scheme and are currently to be deleted in 7 COST actions, thus contributing to Albania's national representation in the program.
