ERASMUS MUNDUS – SIGMA AGILE

Erasmus Mundus is a programme of the European Commission for cooperation and credit mobility in the field of higher education that aims to enhance the quality of European higher education and to promote dialogue and understanding between people and cultures through cooperation with EU partners. In addition, Erasmus Mundus is designed as a booster for human capacities and international cooperation  for universities through exchanges and mobility of students and staff.

Erasmus Mundus 2009-2013 includes 3 main actions:

Action 1: Erasmus Mundus joint programmes of outstanding quality at masters and doctoral levels including scholarships/fellowships to participate in these programmes;
Action 2: Erasmus Mundus Partnerships between European and Third Country higher education institutions, not yet EU members, through scholarships and fellowships for mobility at all academic levels;
Action 3: Promotion of European higher education through centers of excellence at world level.

European University of Tirana is part of the Erasmus Mundus Project Action 2 SIGMA AGILE, led by the University of Warsaw, Poland and in cooperation with universities from the European Union: Humbolt University, Germany; Twente University, Netherlands; University of Milano, Italy; University of Salzburg, Austria; as well as national and regional universities including: University of Shkodra; University of Montenegro; University of Sarajevo BiH; University of Novi Sad, Serbia etc.

The Erasmus Mundus Project Action 2 SIGMA AGILE, ‘Critical skills learning for innovation, sustainable growth, mobility and employability in the multicultural environment of the Western Balkans’, offers approximately 150 fully funded scholarships for students, researchers, academic and administrative staff from the Western Balkans to visit one of the EU partner universities. Also this project offers students, researchers, academic and administrative staff from one of the EU partner universities the opportunity to visit one of the partner institutions in the Western Balkans.  The project is funded by the European Commission.
